Choosing the Right Ramp

What makes DoggoRamps different than other dog ramps?

DoggoRamps are designed around how dogs actually use a ramp, not just how a ramp is manufactured.

From the functionality to the visual design, our focus is on safety, and everyday usability. Features like our PAWGRIP high-traction surface, optional side rails, and long, gradual inclines are intended to help dogs feel secure, stable, and more confident on the ramp.

We offer multiple ramp models so dogs can use the ramp that fits their body size, weight, and environment, rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all solution.

Equally important, DoggoRamps are built to the same quality and aesthetic as your furniture, being made of solid hardwood with 5 finish options.
They’re made to complement your space rather than look like a temporary accessory you need to hide when guests come over.

Why are your ramps more expensive than others?

Our dog ramps cost more because they are built differently, and built to last.

Many lower-priced dog ramps are made from soft pine, plywood, or composite materials and manufactured overseas to reduce costs. In contrast, all DoggoRamps dog ramps are made from furniture-grade solid maple hardwood and crafted in North America. Solid hardwood is significantly stronger and more durable than softwood or plywood, and premium materials and finishing simply cost more.

We also design our ramps for dogs first - not for manufacturing efficiency. While many brands sell a single small ramp as a “one-size-fits-all” solution, we offer multiple ramp sizes, adjustable heights, and safety features so dogs can use them comfortably and confidently. These design choices add cost, but they improve stability, safety, and long-term usability.

Finally, longevity matters. Cheaper ramps often loosen, break, or deteriorate over time, leading owners to replace them more than once. Many of our customers describe DoggoRamps as a “buy-once” dog ramp — built to last your dog’s lifetime and often beyond.

We believe that investing in a durable, well-built ramp can actually be more affordable and economical than repeatedly replacing lower-quality alternatives.

Are DoggoRamps safe for dogs with IVDD, arthritis, or mobility issues?

Yes. In fact, the original DoggoRamp was designed for Crusoe the Dachshund after having gone through IVDD. So designing and building ramps that are exceptionally safe and functional for dogs with mobility challenges, including IVDD, arthritis, senior weakness, and post-surgical recovery, has been at our core since the beginning.

Our long, gradual incline reduces strain on a dog’s spine and joints compared to steep steps or short ramps. The solid hardwood construction is strong and stable, which is especially important for dogs that need stability and confidence when using the ramp.

While every dog’s condition is unique, many customers choose DoggoRamps specifically on the recommendation of their veterinarian or rehabilitation specialist as a safer alternative to jumping, stairs, or steep slippery carpeted ramps.

We have also proudly been endorsed by several reputable veterinarians, dog trainers, and neurologists, such as Dr. Lisa Lippman is a trusted veterinary voice on Good Morning America.

Are dog ramps right for every dog?

Dog ramps are a beneficial for the majority of dogs, but there are a few circumstances where a ramp may not be needed or even recommended.

Young, highly athletic dogs who comfortably jump without impact concerns may not need a ramp. However, many owners choose to introduce a ramp before mobility becomes an issue or while a dog is young so they develop the habit of using a ramp instead of jumping as they age.

For dogs recovering from surgery
(such as spinal or orthopedic procedures) should not use ramps until they are fully healed and/or cleared by a veterinarian. Once recovered, however, ramps can help reduce impact and lower the risk of re-injury.

For dogs with conditions or a medical history that make them especially vulnerable to serious injury, such as IVDD, the safest option is often to restrict access to furniture entirely. However, that isn’t always practical or realistic in everyday life, and if a dog is likely to attempt getting on or off furniture anyway, using a properly designed ramp is significantly safer than having no ramp at all.

I'm not sure which ramp to choose?

We offer four different dog ramp models to cover virtually any indoor use case. The right choice depends on your dog’s size, mobility needs, and the type of furniture the dog will be accessing.

Dog Ramp for Couch
Our couch ramp is adjustable to fit any couch height and can be equipped with optional side rails for added safety. It’s ideal for dogs that should avoid all jumping impact, including dogs with IVDD or joint issues. With a weight capacity of up to 150 lbs, it’s suitable for dogs of any breed or size.

Step-Ramp
The Step-Ramp is a compact step-and-ramp combination designed for homes with limited space, or for ottomans, single chairs, window nooks, etc. It’s best for more active dogs who don’t require a full-length ramp but can still benefit from reduced jumping impact.

Small Dog Ramp for Beds
Designed for dogs under 50 lbs, this ramp is adjustable for even tall beds and features a long, gentle incline with sturdy side rails and a high-traction walking surface. It’s especially popular with breeds like dachshunds, French bulldogs, pugs, and other small dogs.

Large Dog Ramp for Beds
Built for larger dogs or multi-dog households, this ramp supports dogs up to 200 lbs. Its extra strength and stability make it a favorite for breeds such as retrievers, Labradors, corgis, and basset hounds, especially when accessing higher beds.

If you’re unsure which ramp is best for your dog, please contact us and we'll be happy to help you choose the safest and most comfortable option for your setup.

Materials & Build

What are DoggoRamps made of?

DoggoRamps are built from furniture-grade solid Maple hardwood - not soft pine, plywood, or composite materials.

We use solid Maple for its strength, stability, and long-term durability, and each ramp is finished to a premium furniture quality standard as somethign you'll be proud of in your living spaces. Our ramps are also available in five finish options, allowing you to choose a look that complements your home and style.

The walking surface features our PAWGRIP high-traction mat, a soft, rubberized material designed to provide secure, confident footing to dogs of all abilities. Unlike carpeted surfaces, which are in fact slippery as well as difficult to clean, the PAWGRIP surface is incredibly non-slip, easy to clean, and comfortable on paws.

By combining solid hardwood construction with a high-quality, replaceable traction surface, DoggoRamps deliver stability, safety, and longevity that many lightweight or carpet-covered ramps simply can’t match.

Where are they made?

DoggoRamps are crafted here in North America using solid hardwood and premium materials.

We manufacture locally to maintain close oversight of quality, materials, and workmanship at every stage of production. Producing our ramps in North America allows us to hold tighter quality standards, support local manufacturing, and avoid many of the compromises that come with mass overseas production.

This approach ensures each ramp is built to the same durability, safety, and finishing standards our customers expect.

What is 'PAWGRIP'?

PAWGRIP™ is DoggoRamps’ high-traction, non-slip walking surface designed to help dogs maintain secure footing while using a ramp.

It’s a soft, rubbery material that provides amazing grip for dogs of all abilities, and resultantly also means dogs use the ramps more confidently and thus, reliably. Unlike carpeted ramp surfaces, which are often slippery, can shed, and are harder to clean, PAWGRIP maintains reliable paw traction and is easy to keep clean.

PAWGRIP is especially beneficial and important for senior dogs, dogs with IVDD, arthritis, or mobility challenges, where straining or slipping can be harmful.

The entire surface board & mat is also replaceable, allowing the ramp to be refreshed if wear ever occurs.

Are replacement parts available?

Yes. Many DoggoRamps components are designed to be replaceable or upgradable.

For instance, some customers choose to add extra side rails for additional guidance or peace of mind - these can all be purchased separately as well.

In addition, all DoggoRamps are designed with a replaceable walking surface. The surface board and high-traction PAWGRIP mat can be replaced if they show wear over time, allowing you to refresh your ramp without replacing the entire structure.

This modular approach helps extend the life of your ramp and gives you flexibility as your dog’s needs change.

How long do they last?

DoggoRamps are built for long-term use and are designed to last for many years, often a dog’s lifetime and beyond.

The solid hardwood structure is extremely durable and does not loosen, crack, or wear out under normal use the way lightweight or softwood ramps can. With basic care, the core ramp itself is intended to be a permanent piece in your home.

The PAWGRIP walking surface may show wear over time, as it’s engineered to prioritize maximum traction and safety rather than being indestructible. However, to support long-term use, the entire board & PAWGRIP surface is fully replaceable, allowing you to refresh the ramp without replacing the entire structure.

This combination of a durable hardwood frame and replaceable high-traction components is why many customers refer to DoggoRamps as a “buy-once” dog ramp.

Are there any taxes or duties?

For customers in USA & Canada, there are no duties as ramps always ship from within each country respectively.

For customers outside North America, duties may apply upon entry depending on the country.

If you are located in a state or province where we need to pay sales tax, the sales tax is absorbed by us in the sale price you see on the website. In other words, there is never any added tax.

After-Purchase

How do I teach my dog how to use the ramp?

With both our ramps, we include a very effective 3 step process to train any dog. You can take a look at these on our training page. Even if you're confident in your dog's ability, we highly recommend you follow the process anyway to ensure the best possible introduction for your pup.

The majority of dogs take to the ramp very well, many getting the hang of it overnight. Some dogs need a little more time, which is perfectly normal. These dogs require a little more patience and dedication, but all dogs are definitely capable, and if yours needs a little extra help, we are always happy to provide personalized coaching and guidance for you and your dog.

If your dog is having trouble, please reach out to us. Oftentimes there is something we can do to help, and we do encourage people to practice and train for at least two weeks before deciding to return the ramp if needed.

What if I have an issue with my ramp?

If you experience any issue with your ramp especially upon receiving it, please contact us for an immediate solution.

While problems are rare, occasional issues can occur with wooden products especially during shipping. If something isn’t right, our team will assess the situation and work with you to provide the appropriate solution - whether that means replacing a part, repairing the ramp, or replacing it entirely under our 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Our goal is simple: if there’s an issue related to the product or its delivery, we’ll make it right, 100%.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. All DoggoRamps include a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

This warranty covers manufacturing defects, shipping damage, and issues related to normal use and workmanship. If a problem arises during the warranty period, we will repair the ramp, provide replacement parts, or replace the ramp entirely, depending on the situation.

Our goal is simple: if something isn’t right due to how the ramp was made or delivered, we’ll make it right.

What is your return policy?

We offer a flexible, customer-friendly return policy.

If you decide within about 60 days that a ramp isn’t the right fit, you can return it for a full refund. If you need a bit more time, just reach out - we’re happy to offer some flexibility especially if you need a bit more time for training.

We provide a prepaid return shipping label and can even arrange a FedEx pickup from your home if needed.

Customers are not responsible for paying return shipping. A small, flat return processing fee may apply depending on the product type, which helps offset handling costs for our small family business. There are no restocking fees.

If a ramp arrives damaged or has a defect, replacements or returns are handled at no cost.

Full details, including product-specific fees and warranty information, are available on our Return Policy page.
